Anoka, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minneapolis man is facing a recommended prison sentence after pleading guilty to a criminal vehicular homicide charge.

35-year-old Cody Jazdzewski was arrested and charged last summer after he lost control of a BMW convertible and struck two pedestrians before crashing into a tree. The deadly incident occurred last July along Highway 65 in Columbia Heights.

The charges indicated the out-of-control car struck 58-year-old Carrie Rivero and 63-year-old James Beller. He was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries, while Rivero was pronounced dead at the scene. Both victims were from Minneapolis.

According to the criminal complaint, a State Trooper on routine patrol was the first to arrive at the scene and found the smashed vehicle up against a tree and Jazdzewski with bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol coming from him.

The court document says he admitted he had been drinking and a preliminary breath test measured his blood-alcohol-concentration at more than .13.

Jazdzewski is scheduled to be sentenced in August.
