Minnesota Woman Dies After UTV-Pickup Collision
Buhl, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in northeastern Minnesota are investigating a deadly collision involving a pickup truck and an all-terrain vehicle.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says deputies and other emergency responders were dispatched to a rural address near Buhl around 2:30 AM on Friday and discovered a pickup truck had crashed into the back of a side-by-side UTV. The passenger in the UTV was airlifted to a hospital in Duluth where she died from her injuries.
The name of the 61-year-old Blaine woman has not been released.
A news release from the Sheriff's Office says the UTV was being driven by a 15-year-old girl from Coon Rapids. She was taken to a hospital in Virginia by family members with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The 17-year-old driver of the pickup was not hurt.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says the Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the investigation into the cause of the crash. The news release on the incident notes that everyone involved was wearing seatbelts or restraints and it does not appear alcohol was a factor.
