St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The number of new COVID 19 cases reported in Minnesota more than doubled from Saturday to Sunday.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported that testing detected 66 new confirmed cases of the new viral illness in the state yesterday. The statewide total is now up to 235. There were 32 new cases confirmed on Saturday.

The health department has yet to release updated information about the number of people hospitalized with COVID 19, but the death of an elderly person from Ramsey County that was reported on Saturday remains the lone coronavirus fatality in Minnesota.

2 new cases were detected in Olmsted County yesterday. There have now been 16 confirmed cases in the county since the outbreak began. New cases were also reported in Fillmore and Rice Counties. Fillmore now has 3 confirmed cases and there have been 2 in Rice County.
