MN House adds more funds to MCC project
Supporters of the planned Mayo Civic Center expansion and renovation project received some more good news today.
They found out yesterday the Senate bonding bill contains $34 ½ million for the project. The

House bonding bill was approved by a committee this morning and it was amended to include more funds for the Civic Center project. The bill now authorizes a $35 million appropriation - a $5 million increase from the original.
Although the city had requested $37 million, officials say either amount would be enough to move ahead with the project. The city will cover the rest of the project’s cost through the local hotel/motel tax.
