NEW HOPE, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say two police officers have been wounded in a shooting inside a suburban Minneapolis city building.

Hennepin County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Mike Carlson tells KARE-TV that two officers were being sworn in Monday night inside the New Hope City Hall when a man approached and fired shots.

Carlson says two officers were hit and other officers returned fire, killing the man. He says the officers are in good condition and are expected to survive.

The TV station reports the shooting happened as a city council meeting was wrapping up.
