MnDOT Truck Driver Injured in I-35 Crash in Freeborn County
Geneva, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting that a Minnesota Department of Transportation vehicle was involved in an injury crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 35 in Freeborn County.
MnDOT truck involved in Freeborn County crash
The crash was reported just before 11:45 a.m. on southbound I-35 near the town of Geneva, approximately 10 miles north of Albert Lea The State Patrol says an SUV collided with a MnDOT straight truck.
MnDOT driver transported to hospital
According to the State Patrol, the driver of the MnDOT truck was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was identified as 50-year-old Brian Mensing of Mankato.
SUV occupants escape injury
There were two occupants in the SUV, and both were from Marion, Iowa. The State Patrol identified the driver as 72-year-old David Dechant. His passenger was a 72-year-old woman. Neither was injured in the collision.
The State Patrol crash report indicates all three people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not involved.
