Grand Forks, ND (KROC-AM News) - The funeral for a fallen Grand Forks police officer will take place this afternoon.

According to an obituary posted by Amundson Funeral Home, the memorial service for Cody Holte is being held at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, where the mourners are being asked to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. The service begins at 1 PM and will be preceded by a visitation from 10 AM until noon at the arena.

The 29-year-old Grand Forks police officer was killed in the line of duty last Wednesday after a gunman who opened fire on law enforcement officers while they were serving him eviction papers. 41-year-old Salamah Pendleton was charged last week with two counts of murder. In addition to the officer’s death, he is accused of fatally wounding a 61-year-old woman who was found shot to death in his apartment.

Pendleton also faces attempted murder and other charges for allegedly shooting and wounding a Grand Forks County Sheriff's Deputy during the gun battle. The deputy's wounds were not life-threatening.
