
NAACP Townhall Meeting on Recent Rochester Racist Incident
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A recent racist incident at a Rochester Park will be the subject of a Townhall meeting this afternoon.
The Rochester Branch of the NAACP is hosting the event, which is titled "Children are Sacred-Accountability and Justice Townhall." Rochester Civic Theater and Barbershop Talk are also participating in the session.

The focus will be on the incident recorded in a viral video during which a woman was confronted for directing a racist slur have a young black child. The video has been viewed by millions of people on social media and has attracted international media attention.
Organizers say representatives from the NAACP, the City of Rochester, the City Attorney's Office and other local officials are expected to speak at the Townhall Meeting. It will also include statements from the family of the child and the person who created the now viral video.

In announcing the event, the NAACP indicated the event is not an isolated incident, pointing to the display of a racist slur on a pedestrian bridge near Century High School, racist vandalism of the home of a Rochester State Representative, and other reported incidents involving acts of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.
The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will run from 4-5:30 PM at Rochester Civic Theater.
