(UPDATE) – City Has Canceled Plans to Close North Broadway
(UPDATE) The City of Rochester has announced it has reversed an earlier decision to close a section of North Broadway due to the risk of flooding. A new statement from the city says the risk of localized flooding impacting vehicular traffic has diminished.
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A section of North Broadway will be completely closed to traffic this evening.
A notice issued by the Rochester Public Works Department says the heavy rainfall forecast for the Rochester area could result in localized flooding near the construction areas along North Broadway. In response, the city has decided to barricade the busy north-south route from between 14th Street and Elton Hills Drive.

The temporary closure will be in effect from 7 PM through 5 AM tomorrow. Detour signage will be posted.
“We understand this closure is not ideal, but the safety of our residents and those traveling through the area is our top priority,” said Dillon Dombrovski, City Engineer. “With more rain in the forecast, we are acting now to avoid putting people at risk.”
