Last month was significantly colder than normal in Rochester, but the average temperature for January didn't come close to making the list of the ten coldest on record. The National Weather Service says the average was 6.5-degrees, which was 9.2-degrees below normal. The coldest average temperature on record for January in Rochester is -2.3-degrees in 1912. The coldest reading last month was -23 on January 6th, while the warmest was 37-degrees on the 23rd. The precipitation total last month was slightly above normal at 1-inch, which included 14.8-inches of snow.
