Ostrander, MN (KROC AM News) - Residents in the Fillmore County town of Ostrander are being advised to boil any tap water they plan to use for consumption until further notice after the primary water supply was lost to freezing weather.

Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase reports it was discovered the heater failed in the well house for the primary water supply well and the piping was frozen. Officials decided to start up the emergency/backup well, but it has not been used for at least a couple of years and was physically disconnected from the water system.

He says workers planned to flush and test the system for bacteria Tuesday morning.
