Our Court System is Not Set Up for Victims

Olmsted County Attorney Mark Ostrem was a guest Wednesday on Rochester's Good Morning with Rich Peterson and Kim David.

One of the questions posed today was concerning victims of "major" or "minor" crimes.  The accused gets an attorney and all the constitutional rights while the victim sits by him or herself and watches it play out in the court room.

One listener wanted stricter laws on restitution payments by the guilty party to the victim.
