Guilty Plea in Rochester Drug Case Involving 4500 Fentanyl Pills
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A guilty plea was entered today by a Twin Cities woman who was caught with thousands of fentanyl pills in Rochester earlier this year.
Court records indicate 31-year-old Safia Sied Mohamed was arrested on March 28 after Rochester Police responded to a report of two people passed out in the vehicle parked inside the city's Second Street Parking Ramp. While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, one of the responding officers spotted burnt tinfoil and a burnt straw on the floor near the driver's feet.
The criminal complaint says a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a gallon sized Ziploc bag inside the glove compartment. The court document says the bag contained thousands of blue M30 fentanyl pills.
The investigation determined there were more than 4500 fentanyl pills in the bag, which weighed more than 530 grams.
The charging document says Mohamed also gave police a fake name during the encounter in the parking ramp and that she later admitted doing so because "she has arrest warrants."

The Minneapolis woman was charged with felony counts of first-degree drug sales and possession, along with a misdemeanor count of giving a police officer a false name. Under the terms of her plea agreement with Olmsted County prosecutors, Mohamed today entered a guilty plea to the first-degree drug possession charge, while the drug sales charge and a misdemeanor offense will be dismissed.
She is scheduled to be sentenced in September. Mohamed's Petition to Enter a Guilty Plea indicates prosecutors will recommend a prison sentence meeting state sentencing guidelines, while her defense attorney will argue for a downward departure.
Mohamed is currently in custody at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center with her bail set at $100,000.
