Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A fatal crash that occurred near Rochester last week has now taken two lives.

It happened at the Hwy. 52/Goodhue County Rd. 11 exit in southern Pine Island. The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. 

A woman riding in the vehicle, identified as 78-year-old Carol Iverson of Red Wing, was taken from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with what were initially described as life-threatening injuries.

An update to the crash report made earlier this week indicates Carol died from her injuries at the hospital.

The state crash report indicates an SUV traveling north left the freeway and rolled. The vehicle’s driver, identified as 85-year-old Roger Iverson of Red Wing was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roger and Carol were buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the deadly crash. Hwy. 52 was described as dry at the time of the fatal wreck, according to the crash report.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Zumbrota Police Department, Zumbrota Ambulance and Pine Island Fire Department also responded to the scene of the deadly crash.
