Pilot’s Body Pulled from Popular Minnesota Lake After Plane Crash
Mille Lacs, MN (KROC-AM News)- Local and federal authorities are investigating a fatal plane crash that occurred on Mille Lacs Lake Friday afternoon.
A video released by Mille Lacs County Sheriff Kyle Burton said the plane crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. He said the aircraft went down about two miles north of Grand Casino Mille Lacs and about two miles east of the lake’s western shoreline.
Burton said several dive and rescue teams mapped the crash site and searched for the pilot. Eventually, crews recovered the pilot’s body.
He is described as a 47-year-old man. His name and hometown have not yet been released.
Burton said more information is expected to be released at a later time. The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to arrive at the lake Saturday to further investigate the fatal plane crash.
