SWAT Teams Deployed During Investigation

According to the criminal complaint in the case, Martinez and 19-year-old Nicklas Jordan Cheng of Rochester were arrested in December after SWAT teams participated in the execution of search warrants in Plainview and Rochester. The court document says a .22-caliber pistol and clothing matching the descriptions of the items stolen from several young men in early December were found in Martinez’s Plainview home.

Expensive Clothing Stolen

The two young men were accused of robbing the victims at gunpoint of clothing items, along with their cell phones. The charges in the case say the victims also lost their shoes to the robbers so they would not be able to flee or call police. The robbery took place in the 2600 block of 4th Avenue Northeast in early December.

It was also alleged that Martinez threatened to kill the robbery victims if they contacted law enforcement. The criminal complaint estimated the value of the stolen items at more than $5,000.
