How can critical thinking improve workplace safety?  That was the topic for the monthly Power of Learning Show Monday morning on KROC-AM.

Jim Walters joined Andy Brownell for Rochester Today and explored a variety of workplace safety issues and ways using critical thinking skills could cut down on the number and severity of accidents.

Jim even came up with a list...

  • Establish team norms
  • Show respect when we listen without being defensive and speak without being offensive
  • Question everything….welcome questions directed at us and accept questions directed to us.
  • Maintain a tidy workplace when we put everything in its place and clean up after ourselves
  • Adhere to meeting and agenda times.
  • Measure degree of honesty, openness, and accomplishment.
As is often the case, many of the critical thinking strategies discussed during the show are based on simple common sense and can be applied outside the workplace.
