Prison Sentence For Assault in Downtown Rochester Park
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been handed a prison sentence for conviction connected to the investigation into a reported assault and robbery at a Rochester park last year.
Rochester police reported the arrest of 25-year-old Sekouba Kenneh on September 6 after officers responded to a report of an assault in Central Park in downtown Rochester. According to the criminal complaint, Kenneh was accused of punching another man after confronting the victim, and a witness told police that Kenneh had gotten into the "personal space" of the victim and began acting like a "tough guy."

The court document says the witness described how the victim attempted to walk away from the confrontation but was followed by Kenneh and was assaulted by him. The witness stated that the victim was knocked to the ground and it appeared that teeth had been knocked from his mouth.
According to the criminal complaint, an officer responding to the incident caught up with Kenneh and noted that he had blood on his knuckles. The court document says Kenneh responded to the officer's inquiry about the blood by saying, "I just beat him for no reason!" A pair of sunglasses belonging to the victim were found in Kenneh's possession.
They was charged with first and third-degree assault, along with first-degree aggravated robbery. Under the terms of a plea agreement with Olmsted County prosecutors, Kenneh entered a guilty plea to the third-degree assault charge.
At his sentencing hearing today, court records indicate that Kenneh requested an executed prison sentence. The judge in the case gave him a 21 month prison term.
