
Probation for Rochester Man in AK-47 Threat and Theft Cases
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to probation for an incident involving an AK-47 style rifle.
27-year-old Jorge Lozano recently entered into a plea agreement to settle charges that he threatened a man with the weapon outside the victim's home in June 2023. According to the criminal complaint, the victim told Rochester police that he was followed home by another vehicle and a man got out and pointed what appeared to be an AK-47 rifle at him.
The Victim Told Police That His Young Daughter Was With Him During the Incident
The man also told police that his seven-year-old daughter was with him at the time. The court document says the victim indicated that he feared for his life and the life of his daughter. He also stated that he recognized the man with the rifle as Lozano.
According to the criminal complaint, He was arrested about a week later following a traffic stop on Highway 52. The arresting officer reported that Lozano was in the passenger seat and an assault-style rifle, chambered with a 7.62 mm bullet, was located on the floor in front of him.
Lozano was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Under his plea agreement, he admitted to an amended charge of threats of violence.

Olmsted County Court records show Lozano also entered a guilty plea to a pair of felony theft charges. He was accused of being involved in the theft of a dirt bike from a storage facility in Oronoco in March 2023 and the theft of more than $3000 worth of merchandise from a Rochester business in September 2023.
During his sentencing hearing today in Olmsted County Court, Lozano was ordered to serve five years on probation for all three convictions. He was given credit for the 194 days he has spent in jail.
