Rabid Fox Bit 2 People in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Health officials say a fox suspected of biting two people on the south side of Lake Harriet in Minneapolis has tested positive for rabies.
The fox was captured soon after an attack on a jogger Wednesday morning and was euthanized for testing. The confirmation came back Friday.
Susan Obmoin of Eagan got her first round of rabies shots on Tuesday after a fox bit her while she was pulling her bike off the rack on her car. She said she had to pry the fox's mouth open to free herself.
The Minnesota Department of Health has evaluated everyone know to have had contact with the fox, and all are being treated by their health care providers.
The department is advising people not to feed, approach or adopt wild animals.
