REPORT: 2 Hennepin County Deputies Wounded in Exchange of Gunfire
Minnetonka, MN (KROC-News) - Reports indicate two Hennepin County deputies were wounded today in an exchange of gunfire.
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms and Explosives were among the law enforcement officers who responded to a neighborhood in Minnetonka following the incident this morning. The ATF posted on social media that the deputies had been shot.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office has said that two deputies sustained non-life-threatening injuries while executing a warrant in Minnetonka around 11:20 AM. One deputy was transported to a hospital for medical care, while the other deputy was treated at the scene.
A shelter in place order that was issued earlier for the area of Minnetonka where the incident occurred has been rescinded. At last report, the Sheriff's Office described the situation as "active but contained." Officials also indicated there is no threat to the general public.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is in charge of the investigation.
