Business supply managers in Minnesota remain optimistic about the state’s economy.

The latest Mid-America Business Conditions Survey put Minnesota’s overall economic index for August at a robust 66.9. Any reading above 50 is considered an indicator of future economic growth, and Minnesota’s reading has now been above that level for 21 consecutive months.

The index for August was up a half point from July and it remained the highest reading among the nine states covered by the respected report. The strongest components of Minnesota’s index last month were new orders at 72.1, and production or sales at 72.3.
