Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - A lockdown was ordered at Austin High School today due to a report of a firearm possibly being brandished at the school.

The lockdown was put in place around noon after an Austin Police Department School Resource Officer requested additional help at the high school in response to the report. Austin Police Chief David McKichan says the police department with assistance from the Mower County Sheriff's Office responded to investigate the situation.

McKichan says the matter remains under investigation, but at this point, officials "have not been able to establish that a firearm was present at AHS today. The lockdown lasted for about an hour.
