ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A retired St. Paul police officer who was a Golden Gloves boxer is accused of physically assaulting a 14-year-old boy at a group home where he worked as a counselor.

Sixty-four-year-old Clemmie Tucker Sr. is charged with malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports surveillance video shows Tucker pushed the teen into a table, and then kicked him and punched him in the face with a closed fist. The boy had bruising and swelling on his cheek and chin.

According to the complaint, Tucker was fired after the Jan. 30 incident. Tucker had been a St. Paul police officer for 23 years until retiring in 1998.
