Rochester Attorney Joins 1st District Congressional Race
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The field of candidates for Congress in Minnesota’s First District continues to grow.
Rochester attorney Rich Wright issued a statement today indicating he will officially announce his candidacy for the seat in the U.S. House of Representatives at an event next Tuesday evening at Soldiers Field Park. The Rochester native has long been active in local politics and mounted an successful campaigns for positions in the Minnesota Senate and House in the two previous elections.
Wright is believed to be the eighth Democrat to launch a campaign for the First District seat now held by Tim Walz, who previously announced plans to run for governor next year. Just last week, Regina Mustafa of Rochester kicked off a campaign for the Democratic Party endorsement.
Only one Republican, Jim Hagedorn, has officially launched a campaign for position. He narrowly lost to Walz in last November’s election.
