The court filing indicates authorities believe the suspected burglar is fleeing to Mexico. The arrest warrant was filed in Olmsted County Court Wednesday.
Rochester Police responded to the report of a burglary at a home in northwest Rochester on May 5.
Responding officers reported seeing broken glass outside and inside of the residence and a grill cover that may have been used to enter the home, the warrant complaint says.
A woman staying at the home told police she knew the alleged burglar and identified him as 27-year-old Raymundo Marquez Cruz.
She told police the Rochester man broke into the home while she was in an upstairs bedroom and kicked in her bedroom door while she was asleep with her two children, the charges say.
Cruz began arguing with the victim. A man also living in the home went to the bedroom and stood between Cruz and the victim and Cruz punched him in the face and kicked him multiple times, according to the court filing.
A woman also living in the home then came into the bedroom and the victim stood between the woman and Cruz. Cruz then hit the victim before fleeing the house, the charges say.
The victim and man suffered what the complaint describes as minor injuries.
Responding officers searched the immediate area and other locations Cruz is known to frequent but could not find him. Authorities learned that Cruz told other people known to him that he was going back to Mexico, the charges say.
The nationwide and statewide warrant was issued for Cruz based on the possibility that he’s no longer in Minnesota. The warrant charges Cruz with first-degree burglary, misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.
