Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Downtown Alliance announced the hiring of a new Director of Events and Strategic Partnerships earlier this week.

According to the RDA, Kanika Couchene was hired to direct the organization's events and strategic partnerships, where she will manage the RDA's core event portfolio and develop working relations with downtown stakeholder businesses and organizations.

Couchene previously worked for a manufacturing company where she served as the global executive assistance and event planner. Her previous experience includes being a continuing medical education event specialist and HR program coordinator at Mayo Clinic, and program director at The Mentor Network - REM River Bluffs Region.

Couchene received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in communication from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

“I have always had a strong sense of community, which is why I am thrilled to be joining the RDA team,” said Couchene. “Taking my passion for event planning and cultivating relationships, I am excited to find creative, inviting but most importantly safe ways for our downtown community to thrive.”

Couchene's first day with the RDA was March, 23rd.
