Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been charged in connection with a Rochester police narcotics investigation involving a significant amount of methamphetamine.

The criminal complaint filed against 53-year-old Bo Thomas Williams alleges that an investigator with the Rochester Police Crime Interdiction Unit conducted a controlled purchase of the drug from him in May of this year. The court document indicates the controlled purchase was arranged after a police informant contacted the investigator and shared information about a person dealing drugs in the community.

Informant Helps Investigators Arrange Drug Deal

The criminal complaint alleges that the informant identified the suspect as Williams and stated that he was staying at a Rochester hotel and had access to a large amount of methamphetamine. The investigator directed the informant to contact Williams and arrange for a drug purchase.

According to the court document, the informant and Williams met at a local hotel. The informant, who was equipped with a covert recording device and under surveillance, left the meeting and brought the investigator a package of methamphetamine that weighed more than 227 grams.

2022 Drug Convictions in Fillmore County Led to Prison Time

Williams is charged with one count of first-degree drug sale. He made his initial appearance on the charge in Olmsted County Court on Friday, and his conditional bail was set at $50,000.

Court records show he was convicted of a felony drug offense in Fillmore County in 2022. In that case, he was originally sentenced to probation but was later ordered to serve a 17-month prison term for violating the terms of his probation.
