UPDATED 11/23/2020 - It's our second round of having gyms shut down due to COVID-19 and one Rochester gym stated last Thursday on social media "We will NOT be closing!".  The gym is now saying "Effective Immediately: We are closed under the Executive Order of Governor Walz".

Iron Physique Gym, a 24/7 gym located in Rochester, MN with another location in La Crosse, Wisconsin, stated the following on their Facebook and Instagram pages on Thursday, November 19th:

Yes, Governor Walz ordered gyms to shut down. No, we will NOT be closing!
Gyms are part of the solution, not part of the problem. That is not my opinion. These are the facts.

The Facts in Minnesota
* 237,000 total cases of COVID-19 across Minnesota
* 48 reported outbreaks across all gyms, studios and clubs in the State, resulting in a total of 747 cases and equating to an infection rate of .003
_
From IHRSA (International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association)
* The U.S. collected the most extensive sampling, with 2,873 fitness facilities taking part in IHRSA and MXM’s “visit-to-virus” ratio tracker. Of the 49.4 million member check-ins documented in the study, health clubs reported 1,155 cases, translating to a 0.0023% infection rate. Once again, none of the cases led to community transmission.

We know that Covid affects those with underlying conditions more so than those without. 50% of America is now overweight or obese. Fitness and nutrition should be the number 1 and 2 therapeutics that we are investing in to help us get out of this mess and to prevent it from happening to this severity ever again. We cannot close them, this is the lowest hanging and least expensive fruit for people!
_
That said, we are not accepting new members or day pass guests at this time. If you currently hold a punchcard you are welcome to use that, but it must be during staffed hours.
_
Please continue to be diligent in cleaning up after yourself and stay home if you are feeling ill! We have yet to have a single case in our gym- let’s keep it that way!

Thank you all for your support ❤️

Some comments on their initial posts showed that people were supporting the action of staying open.  Others were hoping that fines would be placed on this location.

I'm unsure what happened to change the decision but as of November 21st, the gym stated on social media that "Effective Immediately: We are closed under the Executive Order of Governor Walz.  As much as we want to remain open and fight the good fight, we do not have the funds or resources to do so.  We are extremely sorry for this inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your support during this trying time."
