25-Year-Old Rochester Man Accused of Robbing Woman at Knife Point in Parking Lot of Apartment Complex
25-year-old Jack Ryan Farrell of Rochester is charged with second-degree assault and aggravated robbery.
The charges say a friend of the victim arranged for Farrell, who the victim knew from high school, to give her a ride to Pine Island. Farrel, the victim and a second passenger, stopped at the Pine Island Kwik Trip to purchase items.
Farrell then asked the victim if she had time and began driving to Rochester when she said yes. The vehicle then entered the parking lot at the Essex Park apartments, located at 937 41st St. Northwest.
The victim told police she tried to exit the vehicle but Farrell locked the door. She then heard the sound of a knife opening and said Farrell told her to give him her property, the complaint indicates.
The woman said she gave Farrell $142 in cash. She told investigators Farrell also demanded her phone, but said she hid it under her leg, the charges say.
The other passenger did not partake in the robbery and was laughing during the incident, the court document says. At some point during the ordeal, the victim fled from the vehicle.
Responding officers began searching for the suspect vehicle and found it in the garage of a home in the 5000 block of 61st St. Northwest. Police arrested Farrell who denied committing a robbery.
Officers searched the vehicle and found $20 in cash but no knife, the complaint says. Farrell is being held on $50,000 conditional bail and is due back in court later this month.
