Rochester Man Accused of Sharing Child Pornography on X
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been accused of disseminating child pornography.
A criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court indicates Rochester police began an investigation in late March after receiving a cyber tip from a social media platform relating to suspected videos of child sexual abuse material. The information provided by the X Corporation involved a video depicting the sexual abuse of a young boy approximately 3-5 years old, that was sent to another person through the app.
Rochester police say investigators were able to trace the phone number and email associated with the account to 24-year-old Omar Perez Romero of Rochester. The IP address provided through the cyber tip was also connected to Romero.
According to court documents, a search warrant was executed at his northwest Rochester apartment on April 8. Investigators seized his cell phone and discovered 91 photos and videos of child sexual abuse materials on the device.
The criminal complaint also says Romero agreed to give a statement to investigators during which he admitted that he would view child sexual abuse materials on X. His statement also included an admission that he would send child sexual abuse materials to other users on X.

Romero has been charged with one count of dissemination of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.
His first court appearance is scheduled in October.
