Oronoco, MN (KROC-AM News)- southeast Minnesota motorcyclist has died after crashing in Olmsted County

The Pine Island Fire Department says emergency responders were called to the crash scene shortly after 8:00 Tuesday night. 

Firefighters had to remove trees and set up a rope system to retrieve the motorcycle rider.

Traffic through the area was shut down in both directions for about 45 minutes, according to the Pine Island Fire Department. 

Rochester Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Near Lake Zumbro

The motorcycle crash occurred in the 700 block of Fisherman Dr. NW, which is about three miles east of Oronoco. 

Officials say the motorcyclist lost control and went down an embankment. He was found unresponsive and unconscious, the Pine Island Fire Department says.

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office described the motorcyclist as a 54-year-old man from Rochester.

Lt. Malinda Hanson said he was flown to St. Mary's Hospital where he passed away from his injuries.

His name has not been released.

Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Mayo One helicopter and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
