Rochester Man Wanted For Kidnapping and Rape Now in Custody
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities have caught up with a Rochester man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman.
Olmsted County court records show that an arrest warrant was issued on March 16 for 42-year-old Gregory Miles Jones. The warrant charged him with one count each of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree criminal sexual conduct, false imprisonment, kidnapping, terroristic threats, and misdemeanor domestic assault. The court document also indicates that Jones, when he spoke with police over the phone, stated he was on his way to Maryland.
Taken Into Custody on Friday
The Olmsted County Adult Detention Center website says Jones was booked into the facility early Friday morning. He has since been arraigned on the charges, and his conditional bail is set at $50,000.
According to the criminal complaint, Jones is accused of going to the victim's home in the early morning hours of March 16 and being granted entry into the residence. The victim told police that she and Jones were drinking alcohol and watching TV before he followed her into her bedroom and demanded they engage in sexual activity.
Victim Reported Being Raped and Beaten
It is alleged that Jones then sexually assaulted the victim for several hours and punched her in the head, arms, legs, and chest during the attack. The criminal complaint says the victim told investigators she managed to get out of the home, but Jones followed her, grabbed her by the hair, and dragged her back into the residence.
The victim indicated she eventually managed to escape and seek help. The court document says the responding officers observed that she had missing hair, scratches on her body, and blood coming from her ears.
Suspect Fled His Home
The criminal complaint says Rochester police then conducted surveillance on Jones's home and saw him get dropped off. Officers ordered him to stop, but he went into the home and refused to come out.

When officers forced the front door open, the court document says he fled out the back. Police found the victim's phone in the garage at Jones's home.
The court document does not include any information about how Jones was taken into custody.
