Rochester man killed in wreck in Winona County

A Rochester man was killed yesterday in a traffic wreck near Lewiston.

The Winona County Sheriff’s Department says 54 year old Anthony Plevak was alone in his car when it crashed into a creek just off Highway 14 near  Farmers Community Park, which is located east of Lewiston.  A passing motorist spotted the wreck around 4:30 p.m.  It’s believed Plevak crashed sometime between 4 and 4:30.  Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude says Plevak’s vehicle went airborne, crashed into a cement wall next to a railroad trestle and then landed on its top in the creek.  Ganrude says speed may have been a factor.  Plevak was pronounced dead at the scene.
