
Rochester Man Sentenced for Convictions in Child Sex Assault Cases
Preston, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man has reported to jail for a conviction in a two child sexual assault cases.

He was charged in both cases in Fillmore County Court in 2024.
He entered plea agreements to settle both cases last October through an Alford Plea, which means he does not admit guilt but acknowledges there is substantial evidence for a conviction.

46-Year-Old Man Convicted of Sexually Assaulting Two Girls Gets Jail Sentence
46-year-old Mathew Scott Johnson was accused of sexually abusing two girls known to him.
Court documents allege he abused a 13-year-old starting in the Spring of 2021 and continued doing so until she was 15 in the Fall of 2022. He was also accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in the Winter of 2022-23.

Johnson was charged with four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in the case involving the teen victim.
He faced two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for the case involving the 12-year-old victim.
Johnson was convicted of one second-degree count in each of the cases in exchange for the dismissal of all other charges, according to the plea agreement.
He was sentenced to 270 days in the Fillmore County Jail and granted work-release privileges, according to court records. He is also required to register as a predatory offender.
