Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Olmsted County court documents indicate 32-year-old Eric Kelly Danielson Jr. was charged in December 2023 after a girl under the age of 16 reported that she had been assaulted and raped. Danielson was also accused of threatening a man with a knife in an earlier incident.

He Was Convicted of Sexual Assault and Threats Charges For 2 Separate Crimes

In the sexual assault case, the criminal complaint says the victim identified Danielson as her attacker and described him as "a father figure to her boyfriend." He was accused of driving the victim to a hotel in south Rochester where she stated that she smoked methamphetamine and took a blue pill that Danielson identified as Percocet. According to the court document, the victim told investigators that Danielson offered her the drugs after she refused repeated requests to engage in sex.

The charges say the victim told police she lost consciousness, and when she came to, she found herself being moved to a bed and tied up with a drawstring before Danielson sexually assaulted her. She also told investigators that Danielson strangled her with the chain, bit her lips closed, and struck her all over her body while raping her.

Danielson was also accused of pointing a gun at the victim and threatening to kill her, her boyfriend, and her family if she reported the assault. It was also alleged that he told the victim that he possessed a nude photo of her and would distribute it if she told anyone.

In the earlier alleged knife incident, Danielson was accused of threatening a man after the victim heard a woman in a vehicle at a gas station yelling for help and saying, "he is beating me." The charges alleged that Danielson told the victim he was going to kill him and numerous times said he would "gut him."

Danielson was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree assault, two counts of tampering with a witness, illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent crime, illegal possession or use of teargas or stun gun, and receiving or possessing a firearm with an altered serial number.

In February, just before he was going to trial, Danielson entered guilty pleas to a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge and one of the weapons-related charges in the sexual assault case. He also admitted to a felony threats of violence charge connected to the July incident involving the threats against the man at the gas station.

Danielson was sentenced today to a total of six years in prison for both crimes.
