Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced for a felony prostitution conviction.
Olmsted County court records indicate 25-year-old Nicholas Robert Bain was among seven people charged in connection with what law enforcement termed a “proactive sex trafficking operation” in April of last year. The sting investigation was conducted by the Rochester Police Department in partnership with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

The criminal complaint against Bain and the others says law enforcement created and posted online advertisements on websites known to be used by people seeking to purchase sex. The court document says the men chatted online with an undercover officer pretending to be a person under the age of 18. Bain was arrested after he showed up at an agreed-upon location in Rochester to meet what he believed was a juvenile girl.
Earlier Plea Agreement
Bain earlier entered a guilty plea to a charge of prostitution—actor hires or agrees to hire and reasonably believes under 18 but at least 16 years old.

He has now been sentenced to two days in jail, with credit for the two days he spent in custody following his arrest. Bain has also been placed on probation for two years and has been ordered to pay a $500 fine.
