Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a Rochester man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Olmsted County Court documents say Rochester Police took the report of a sexual assault on June 18. The victim went to the hospital for a medical evaluation then spoke to an investigator.
The charges say 27-year-old Alex Allen Schneider was an overnight guest at the home of the young girl after a birthday celebration. The girl told police they were sitting together on a couch when Schneider slid over to her, put a blanket over the two of them and sexually assaulted her.
The complaint says Schneider confessed to the alleged sexual assault to the victim’s family and his own family telling one person, “It just happened . . . I just messed up.” Investigators tried to find Schneider but could not locate him.
On June 26, the detective investigating the case reported getting a message from Schneider’s attorney invoking his right to remain silent. The detective responded that Schneider did not have to give a statement but said law enforcement needed his address to summon him to court, the complaint says.
The detective also said the victim's family is pursuing a harassment restraining order against Schindler that requires his address. The detective gave Schneider a June 28 deadline to disclose his address.
The deadline came and went without any contact from Schneider and the warrant for his arrest was issued July 3, court documents say. The warrant charged Schneider with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
