The arrest warrant was issued June 28 as the result of a Rochester Police Department investigation that started after investigators received report from the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center regarding the alleged sexual abuse in April. The victim initially denied any abuse had taken place but later shared messages with his probation officer and a third party indicating a sexual relationship between him and his therapist was occurring, according to the arrest warrant

Olmsted County Court records indicate law enforcement served the warrant to 42-year-old Mandy Erin Hyland on Monday. She was arraigned on a felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct that same day and was released without bail but with conditions.

Over the course of the investigation, law enforcement became worried for the victim’s mental health. The complaint says Hyland continued to contact him after he had tried to break off the relationship by changing his phone number.

The man checked into a local mental health crisis center citing confusion and fear amid Hyland’s continued contact with him. The probation officers say the continued alleged harassment puts the victim in danger and had asked for the warrant to attempt to prevent Hyland from continuing to contact the victim, the complaint states.

Hyland’s next court appearance is set for July 25.
