Rochester Man's Murder Trial Resumes Today

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man's murder trial is winding down in Olmsted County court.

The testimony portion in the trial of 25-year-old Ayub Iman is expected to wrap up later today or Tuesday. The trial began with jury selection a week ago and opening statements were presented last Tuesday.

Iman is the second person to stand trial for his alleged involvement in the "execution-style" murder of 28-year-old Garad Roble. The Rochester man was found shot to death on a rural road on the southeast edge of Rochester on March 5, 2019. The other man charged in the case, 33-year-old Muhidin Abukar, went to trial last December but a mistrial was declared after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict and he is scheduled to stand trial for a second time in May.

Iman and Abukar are both charged with second-degree murder. Much of the evidence against both men involves cell phone tracking that investigators say links them to the murder scene and to the site where the murder weapon was later recovered.
