Rochester, MN Man Accused of Tossing Large Amount of Meth Into Neighbor’s Yard
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against a Rochester man as the result of a domestic assault call that led to a discovery of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine.
The criminal complaint, filed Monday in Olmsted County Court, states Rochester Police responded to the report of a domestic assault in progress along 12th St. Southeast shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. Officers arrived and found a man and woman arguing along the sidewalk.
While speaking with the man and woman, a neighbor alerted officers that the man, identified as 39-year-old Gregory Alvino Garrido Jr., had thrown something into their yard. One of the officers on scene approached the package and immediately recognized it as methamphetamine, the charges say.
A test confirmed the substance was meth and was weighed at 63.8 grams with packaging, according to the complaint. Garrido Jr. was arranged on charges of first-degree drug sales and felony domestic assault on Monday.
Court documents say the person who reported the domestic assault saw him choke the woman. Court records indicate Garrido Jr. has been convicted of felony violation of a no contact order twice in a span of 18 months.
He was also convicted of second-degree drug possession in Olmsted County in 2019. The judge in the case set his conditional bail at $25,000.
Olmsted County Adult Detention Center records indicate Garrido Jr. remains in custody. His next court appearance is set for July 3.
