Rochester Native Majerus Wins Silver Medal at X-Games
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester native Alec Majerus won a silver medal Saturday at the X-Games in Minneapolis.
The TV commentators for the Men's Street Skateboarding competition described Majerus as the clear crowd favorite as he began his first and best run in the finals. At the end of the run, he was awarded with a standing ovation and an 88.66 score, which was high enough to earn a trip the podium and a silver medal.
Brazilian skateboarder Kelvin Hoefler won the gold medal with a score of 92.33, while the bronze went to Nyjah Huston from California with a top score of 88.
For Majerus, who now makes his home in California, his performance in Minneapolis was his best yet in the X-Games. He won a bronze medal in 2014 at the X-Games in Austin, Texas, and finished fourth in 2015 and last year, when the X-Games were held in Oslo, Norway.
