Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  We may know by the end of the week who the finalists are for Rochester’s next police chief.

City Director of Human Resources Linda Hillebrand says the list of 35 candidates has been narrowed to five semi-finalists who will be interviewed Tuesday and Wednesday. Hillenbrand says it’s hoped the finalists will be announced Thursday.

The finalists are expected to take part in a public forum in April. They will also be interviewed by the city’s Police Civil Service Commission, which will submit a final list to Mayor Ardell Brede for his decision.

Chief Roger Peterson plans to retire April 25th.
