Rochester Police Looking For Vehicle Theft & Hit and Run Suspect
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Police are looking for a man who fled on foot following a brief chase in a stolen vehicle Monday night.
A police spokesman says the 2019 Chevy SUV was reported stolen around 5:30 PM by a 25-year-old woman who told police she had left the car unlocked with a key fob inside in the 100 block of West Center Street. An officer spotted the stolen SUV about 3 hours later on 19th Street Northwest on the westside of the Highway 52 interchange and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver then sped away, and after crossing the highway overpass, traveled about a quarter-mile east on Elton Hills Drive before crashing into the back of another vehicle near the intersection with 22nd Avenue Northwest. The man then jumped out of the smashed SUV and fled on foot.
