The Rochester Police Dept. says Officer Jamar Meeks was arrested Thursday and arraigned Friday morning in Olmsted County Court.

RPD says it has “turned the case over to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office for a complete, thorough and independent investigation into the incident. In addition, the Rochester Police Department has initiated an internal affairs review.”

RPD says Meeks has been an officer with the Rochester Police Department for less than one year, during which he has received no discipline or complaints.

The criminal charges listed on his jail roster information are:

  • Domestic Assault Inflict GBH and/or Use/Threat with Weapon
    Level: Misdemeanor
  • Disorderly Conduct Offensive Conduct
    Level: Misdemeanor

“The alleged conduct outlined in this incident is concerning and is inconsistent with the core values of the Rochester Police Department,” says Jim Franklin, Chief of Police.

This is a developing story. KROC News will have updates as more information becomes available.
