Rochester Public Schools Seeks Input on New Year Recommendations
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester Public Schools is now seeking input from parents and students on recommendations from a task force as the district makes final preparations for the new school year.
The state has directed districts to prepare for three scenarios: full in-person return to school in the fall, full distance learning, and a hybrid of the two.
The state is expected to make a decision next week on which model will be adopted. RPS has spent the past month preparing for all three scenarios.
According to RPS: “Superintendent Michael Muñoz and Cabinet members recruited a task force to complete perhaps the most complex plan ever attempted in the district. This month, a task force of more than 160 district staff members, students and others gathered to identify the many intertwined issues in the three scenarios to be addressed in any high quality plan. Their work resulted in a detailed plan for district action in areas from technology to instruction, building safety to mental health, and many more. “
The Rochester School Board is expected to receive the final recommendations from the task force at its August 4th meeting.

Superintendent Muñoz will also be hosting a live meeting on July 23, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM, to walk through each scenario.
