Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Public Schools is seeking input from the public on several key issues facing the school district.

An online survey is currently available through the school district website concerning the interim superintendent who will be hired in May to lead the public school system through the next school year while the school board searches for a more permanent successor to Michael Munoz. The survey was designed to help identify the skills and qualifications community members would like to see in the person selected to fill the position. Public input to the survey will be accepted through April 12th.

The Rochester School District is also seeking input concerning the use of Security Resource Officers in the schools. The current contract between the school district and the Rochester Police Department will soon be up for renewal and the school board would like to hear from students, family, and staff about what was formerly known as the Police Liaison program. That survey could be available as soon as Tuesday and will be "live" through April 19th.

A third survey will be offered on the school district website beginning Tuesday evening concerning coming changes to school attendance boundaries. The changes will be needed when the new schools authorized by the $181 million bond issue approved by voters in 2019 are completed. The school board plans to approve the revisions by this September and the changes would take effect at the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The survey will request feedback on a series of options developed by an advisory committee as it develops a recommendation for consideration by the superintendent.
