Rochester Under Winter Weather Advisory; Several Inches Possible
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A winter weather advisory has been posted for the Rochester area and the southern tier of counties across southern Minnesota.
The National Weather Service says the advisory will be in effect from 3 p.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Sunday due to a fast-moving clipper storm system. The current forecast for southeastern Minnesota predicts light snow will develop in the early evening and increase in intensity, with several inches of accumulation possible by late tonight.
Heaviest Snow Expected in Iowa and SW Minnesota
The heaviest snow from the storm system is forecast to fall in a band that runs from the extreme southwestern corner of Minnesota and western Iowa through portions of central and northern Iowa. The National Weather Service says those areas could see 5–10 inches of snow accumulation.

Arctic Air Moving In Overnight
The clipper system will pull cold Arctic air into the region as it moves off to the east overnight. The National Weather Service says the temperature in the Rochester area is expected to fall to around zero by tomorrow morning, and the high on Sunday may only be in the upper single digits.
Travelers Urged to Use Caution
Anyone with plans to travel this evening is advised to check road conditions before heading out and be prepared to take extra time to reach their destination.
