UPDATED-Rochester Woman Killed by Wrong-Way Driverk
(UPDATE) The State Patrol has identified the victim as 60-year-old Larae Lynn Post of Rochester.
Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News) - A wrong-way driver is being blamed for a crash that took the life of a Rochester woman and left another woman in critical condition early today.
The State Patrol says the fatal crash was reported just before 1:15 AM in the southbound lanes of Highway 52 at mile marker 91, which is about 7 miles south of Cannon Falls. The preliminary report on the incident indicates alcohol was involved.
According to the State Patrol, a 35-year-old California woman was driving a pickup truck north in the southbound lanes when the vehicle collided with an SUV and a Jeep traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the SUV, currently only identified as a 60-year-old Rochester woman, was killed in the crash.
The State Patrol says the pickup driver, Simona Montiel Vera of San Diego, was transported to St. Marys Hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries. The preliminary report on the crash states that alcohol was involved in her case.
25-year-old Marissa Emily-Taylor Johnson of Rochester was driving the Jeep involved in the collision. She was also brought to St. Marys Hospital to be treated for what the State Patrol indicated were non-life-threatening injuries.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, Zumbrota Police Department, Cannon Falls Police and Ambulance, along with Zumbrota ambulance responded to the scene of the crash and assisted the State Patrol.
