The project calls for transforming the former Hwy. 63 corridor into a city street. The work includes adding new pavement, utilities, signal systems, transit stops, paths, and streetscaping.
Officials say the road will be open to traffic during construction. Travel will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during the work.
Crews plan to begin construction this fall and the project is scheduled to be completed by July of 2026, the city document says.
